Grasp and hold objects and more
The prosthesis will help you to regain as much as possible of the function lost due to the amputation. You will again be able to hold and grasp objects passively - the prosthesis will allow you to hold them against your remaining fingers or thumb. This will avoid unilateral strain and enable a balanced sequence of movements. Restoring the whole palm also enlarges the usable area of the amputated hand.

Regaining these functions can help restore your confidence and independence. There is also an aesthetic benefit. The natural-looking appearance of the prosthesis will support your social integration in everyday activities - day after day.

Exactly how much your finger prosthesis will be capable of depends mainly on the function remaining in your residual hand. The silicone prosthesis is controlled by the residual hand. The custom-made socket ensures firm support that makes precise movements possible.

Fingers
When a finger is amputated, a finger prosthesis primarily restores the original length of the finger. This improves leverage in the affected fingers.

Thumb
Grasping depends mainly on the opposing grasp of the thumb (see diagram). The loss of the thumb means that essential grasping functions are lost. This is why a silicone thumb prosthesis is recommended after the thumb is amputated. A thumb prosthesis considerably increases the radius of your grasp. A silicone thumb prosthesis also enables you to passively hold and grasp objects.

Suitable for work, leisure time and sport
Your personal needs and wishes will be taken into consideration for the shape of your prosthesis. For example, a work prosthesis can be made with special grasping positions for heavy loads. This enables a firm, precisely defined grasp with a high level of support. Your prosthesis can also provide support for other activities - on the job, in your daily routine and for sport.
